Parkinson’s resources
Let's gather the top resources for your peers with Parkinson's, both when first diagnosed and when seeking more technical/scientific information.
A friend from college emailed me this week. It’s been a long time since we last spoke, but we were close, so it was nice to see the email appear in my inbox – until I read it.
He was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s and was trying to understand the disease and its impact on his life. After catching up a bit, we dug into his questions. I could answer his scientific questions but I was less useful when the conversation shifted to lifestyle, independence etc.
I shared several sites with useful information that he had not heard of, including the Davis Phinney Foundation, No Silver Bullet 4 PD and Movers & Shakers Podcast. But I realized that as much as we are accomplishing at Right Brain Bio, I did not know what would be the most useful way for him to learn about the disease, his options and his future.
With almost 2,000 subscribers, I need to ask you on behalf of my college friend — and also so I can share with all of you, what are the most useful sites and/or books to educate those newly diagnosed with PD? And once you understand the basics, what are the most useful sites and/or books to understand the nuances and science?
Please go to this google form and list up to three resources you'd recommend, first when someone is initially diagnosed with the disease and then, for those eager for more technical/scientific information. I'll tally the responses and share them through this newsletter.
